Resources for parish-based marriage preparation program
Dear Brother Priests, Deacons and Subdeacons, Consecrated Men and Women:
The Church has found it more and more helpful for engaged couples to receive a good and solid practical knowledge of Natural Family Planning (NFP) in marriage preparation. Almost every diocese/eparchy in the United States has a special program to assist pastors and couples to familiarize themselves with this important help for young people.
Our own Eparchial Statutes reads:
STATUTE 71. The couple must attend together the marriage preparation program as required by the Church and determined by the pastor. That is to include:
a) At least 3 meetings with the pastor or a priest delegated by him;
b) The completion of a compatibility test similar to “Foccus”;
c) Participation in classes organized either by the parish or the local Latin Diocese;
d) Sufficient knowledge of Natural Family Planning.
Since we now have an excellent source for this in our own Eparchy, we ask that each parish preparing engaged couples, be sure that each couple has “sufficient knowledge of Natural Family Planning” by one of the following:
To initiate this, the pastor needs only to send an email to Marise Frangie at the email above and cc the couple. Marise will reach out to the couple and schedule an online meeting with them and give them a certificate afterwards for your file.

Thank you for promoting this important practice for the couples entrusted to your care.
